What is Bipolar Disorder
You don’t need to “figure it out” on your own. We’re here to help you understand what’s going on—and what can help.
Bipolar disorder is a mental health condition that causes significant shifts in mood, energy, and behavior. These shifts can include episodes of depression, where things feel heavy and hard, and periods of mania or hypomania, where you may feel extremely energized, restless, or impulsive.
Bipolar disorder is not just being “moody” or “angry.” It’s a medical condition that can be treated. Everyone’s experience is different, but here are some common signs of bipolar disorder:
During Depressive Episodes:
Feeling sad, hopeless, or emotionally numb
Loss of interest in things you used to enjoy
Fatigue or low energy
Sleeping too much or too little
Difficulty focusing or making decisions
Thoughts of worthlessness or self-doubt
During Manic or Hypomanic Episodes:
Feeling unusually energized or euphoric
Racing thoughts or talking quickly
Reduced need for sleep
Impulsive decisions (spending, risky behavior, etc.)
Irritability or agitation
Increased goal-setting but difficulty finishing tasks
With the right support, people with bipolar disorder can lead stable, fulfilling lives.
